Platinum #347: VA-11 HALL-A

Hey there!

If you ever wanted to try a Visual Novel, go for this game. It has a decent story and a lot of drinks!

What is the game all about?
VA-11 HALL-A, or simply Valhalla, is the name of the bar in which this Visual Novel takes place. You take control over Jill, who works at this bar as a bartender.
You will meet various characters who will tell you their story and order drinks. These drinks must be prepared and served by you. But be careful to serve the correct drinks, otherwise the customers might become angry, which will have a high impact on the story. This may lead into different dialogues or the customers not returning at all. If you make too many mistakes, you’ll get fired. Then, it’s game over!
At the end of each day, you’ll get your earnings and return home. There you can spend your hard earn money on things you need or buy some decorations. You can even buy a PC, on which you can play a short but hard shoot ‘em up. But don’t waste too much money! Otherwise you won’t be able to pay your rent.
The game has awesome cyberpunk pixel-art and a great soundtrack. Speaking of which you can change in the juke every day.
The story and character are great and as this game share the same universe as 2064: Read Only Memories, there are also some cameo appearances of 3 different characters. But you must meet some specific criteria to make them appear.
If you every wanted to try out a Visual Novel, play VA-11 HALL-A. It’s truly a great story-driven game.

What about trophies?
There are a lot of missable trophies, like serving all correct drinks or making some cameos appear. Furthermore, there are different endings and you also must play and beat the shmup I’ve written above. Luckily, there’s a great text guide on playstationtrophies.org, with which you’ll be able to unlock nearly everything in one playthrough. The rest can be unlocked by loading a back-up save.

Where can I get this game?
VA-11 HALL-A can be found in most of the PSN stores. But be aware, it’s Vita only. So, you might buy it in the store your main account is tied to.
If you need PSN cards, you can buy them at play-asia.com or at scdkey.com. There you get digital codes, which will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.
There has also been a limited physical release by limitedrungames.com, but it’s sold out already. You might want to try your luck on eBay.
Alternatively, you can buy the Japanese version on play-asia.com. Alas, it’s in Japanese only.

As a trophy hunter, should I get this game?

Platinum #346: The Wardrobe

Hey there!

An awesome Point & Click with a non-political correct humor. I really enjoyed this one.

What is the game all about?
The Wardrobe starts with a cutscene, in which you can see the two friends Skinny and Roland having a picnic. Things go nuts when Roland hands over a plumb to Skinny, as Skinny is allergic to plumbs and dies. Afraid of what has happened, Roland runs away leaving dead Skinny behind. As he hasn’t told anyone what happened, he will be doomed. Luckily, Skinny comes back as a skeleton and his task is to watch over Roland.
When you gain control over Skinny, you start in a wardrobe that looks like a coffin. Now it’s up to you to save your friend. In good old Point & Click manner, you must solve some odd puzzles.
Apart from the awesome jokes within this game, you’ll also encounter a lot of pop-culture references. There will be Morpheus from The Matrix, Johnny Bravo and a few other well-known characters. There are also a lot of Easter eggs hidden within the game, like Captain America’s shield, an Angry Bird and many more.
The game is heavily inspired by Point & Click classics, like Day of the Tentacle and Monkey Island, even though it doesn’t have pixel-art. If you liked those games, you’ll have a lot of fun with this one. In my opinion, the best Point & Click for PS4 since the release of Thimbleweed Park.

What about trophies?
The game has a lot of missable trophies. Furthermore, you must beat the game without skipping any of the cutscense and within an (un)specific amount of time. If you don’t want to play through it twice, you can follow this text guide from playstationtrophies.org or the vide walkthrough below by IBadDriverI.

Where can I get this game?
The Wardrobe can only be found in the EU and NA PSN stores. Both share the same stack.
If you need PSN cards, you can buy them at play-asia.com or at scdkey.com. There you get digital codes, which will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.

As a trophy hunter, should I get this game?
When following a guide, you can complete this game within 2 hours. So yes, you should get it. It’s also recommended to anyone who’s interested in Point & Click games.

Platinum #345: Word Search by POWGI (EU Vita)

Hey there!

If you like word search, you must play this game. This 324 puzzles will keep you busy for a while.

What is the game all about?
There’s not much to tell about Word Search by POWGI, as it is a simple word search puzzle game. There are 27 different categories, with 12 puzzles each. All of them are unlocked straight from the beginning. So, you can choose to play these 324 puzzles in any order you want.
In every puzzle, you must find round 20 different words. Some of them are easy, but some words are very well hidden. So, this game is definitively interesting for beginners and advanced players.
There’s also a timer and your personal best will always be saved. Thus, you can always try to get a better time.
The main difference between PS4 and Vita is, that on PS4 you can play with up to 3 friends and solve these puzzles together.

What about trophies?
Not only do you have to solve each and every puzzle, you also have to solve one puzzle in alphabetical order, one where you find the words from shortest to longest, and one in which you find all diagonal words first. Furthermore, you must beat your personal best in one puzzle. Doing a puzzle on your own can take up to 10+ minutes. If you want to drastically reduce your playing time, you can use the solutions by powerpix.com. With this, you’ll be able to beat the game in 10 hours.
On PS4 you can play with up to 3 friends, and all of them will be able to unlock trophies. So, if you wanna save some time, play this together with some friends.

Where can I get this game?
Word Search by POWGI can be found in the EU and NA PSN store. It’s cross-buy between PS4 and Vita and each version has its own stack.
If you need PSN cards, you can buy them at play-asia.com or at scdkey.com. There you get digital codes, which will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.

As a trophy hunter, should I get this game?
Unless you’re a fan of word search, I wouldn’t go for this game. Even with the guide its very long and feels like a chore.
